Singer-composer Yeng Constantino and her husband Victor “Yan” Asuncion have postponed their plans to have a baby next year.

Constantino shared that her husband is very supportive of her career and all the projects that come her way.

“Buti na lang napaka-understanding naman ni Yan. Ang sarap lang ng feeling na supportive yung asawa mo,” Constantino said.

“Kami ‘yung type ng couple na mayroon talaga kaming timeline na ‘o by 2017 magbe-baby na tayo.’ Pero since he sees things happening in my career right now, ‘Gawin mo lang ‘yung gusto mong gawin kasi pangarap mo ‘yan.’ Kinikilig ako,” she added.

The couple tied the knot in February 2015.

For Constantino, this has been the most blessed year for her.

“There was a time a in my career na (iniisip ko) ano kaya ang mangyayari. But this year nakita ko ‘yung fruit ng pinagggagawa ko na pagsulat ng kanta. This year nagkaroon ng ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan,’ ‘We Love OPM,’ then may bago kaming show nila Vice, Sandara at Kuya Aga. And I also have a musical, ginawa ng musical ang aking mga awitin. End of this year, may concert kami ng ‘Divas’ kasama namin si Angeline (Quinto), KZ, Kyla at ako sa Araneta Coliseum. So sobrang amazing talaga na year,” she explained. (MNS)

Bittersweet.

Putting two Filipino boxing icons in one fight event, it turned out, wasn’t a good idea after all. Well, at least from the standpoint of many Filipino Americans. Because they were caught between the sweet feeling of celebrating Manny Pacquiao’s  new world welterweight title and the bitterness of commiserating with Nonito Donaire, 33, over his controversial lost of the super bantamweight crown.

The ESPN unofficial scorecard has Donaire winning at 115-113. However, the judges saw the fight differently and gave their nods to Donaire’s 24-year-old opponent Jessie Magdaleno with scores of 118-110, 116-112 and 116-112.

The scoring of one of the three judges, Adalaide Byrd, was so bad, it prompted Top Rank Promotions boss Bob Arum to call for her disqualification.

“If there is one thing to say, because it really troubles me. You can complain about the judges and be a sore loser, so I’m not complaining about any decision because they are all correct. But the judge in the Nonito Donaire-Magdaleno fight, who gave Donaire only two rounds should never be allowed to judge again. The other two judges had Magdaleno winning very, very close. You can argue that was correct or Donaire winning close was correct, but to only give Nonito Donaire two rounds in that fight you have to wonder what that judge was seeing,” Arum sternly said during the post-fight press conference at the Thomas and Mack Center ‘s provisional media hub.

Donaire raised his hands in celebration at the end of his 12-round bout with Magdaleno, only to be disappointed when ring announcer Michael Buffer announced that the World Boxing Organization (WBO) has a new super bantamweight champion.

A thunderous mix of cheering and booing erupted inside the arena.

A CONTROVERSIAL DECISION. Donaire was pinned to the ropes but managed to escape the onslaught of the younger Magdaleno. The ESPN unofficial scorecard has Donaire winning at 115-113. The Filipino boxing idol hurriedly stepped out of the ring but stopped at the steps to acknowledge fans. Donaire vowed to the cheering supporters and ran to the dugout. He didn’t show up for the post press conference.

Donaire relentlessly pursued Magdaleno around the ring from round 1 to round 12, landing occasional clear and hard punches to Magdaleno’s head and body.

Magdaleno, for his part, fought well and also landed his body shots and was able to hurt Donaire in the 9th round –hammering Donaire with a string of punches while the Filipino boxer was caught in the ropes.

A  former “Fighter of the Year” Donaire slid to 37-4 with 24 knockouts. Magdaleno improved to 24-0 with 17 knockouts.

The sweet part of the evening came later with the anticipated victory of Pacquiao who climbed the ring at -550 favorite

– which means a $550 bet on the Filipino legend could only win $100.

Pacquiao, 37, floored Jessie Vargas, 28, in the 2nd round with a right straight. But the Mexican fighter survived the round and went to on to put up a decent defense to Pacquiao’s relentless onslaught.

Although Pacquiao won via unanimous decision, Arum also noted bad scoring from one of the three judges assigned to the main event fight.

Arum appropriately pointed out that while the judges seemed to “saw the fight like everybody else,” one judge scored it six rounds for Pacquiao and six rounds for Vargas, narrowly giving the win to the Filipino fighter by virtue of knocking down Vargas in the second round.

“What fight was that judge watching?” Arum asked in exasperation.

“The Commission here prides itself on having the best this and the best that, should have a seminar to show these judges what to watch out for. Its easier for me to say that here because I’m not saying you stole the fight from my fighter, but it goes against the credibility of the sport when you have in these two individual judges who scored the fight so much differently from what everyone saw and what the other two individual judges saw,” Arum pointed out.

Kim Domingo: She’s got it!

Kim Domingo (MNS photo)

To be good enough for pin-up is something many stars aspire for. It should be said however, being hot has its pros and cons – just ask Kim Domingo.

Blessed with an innocent face and a killer bod, Kim, the latest crush ng bayan, shared in an interview the pitfalls of looking like a goddess.

“May mga instances na nababastos ako,” she said. ““Ewan ko. ‘Yung iba parang ‘di sila makapagpigil. Konting skin, konting cleavage, magte-take advantage na agad. May nanghihipo, nangyayakap…

“Tapos ang iba naman, huhusgahan ka because of the way you look – to the point na pag nag-bikini ako, sasabihin masamang ehemplo daw ako. Eh nagtratrabaho lang naman ako!”

She has learned how to deal with these things.

“Kapag mga public appearances, I make sure may security. Tapos sa social media naman, deadma na lang,” Kim said.

Asked if she plans to change how some people see her, the budding actress said, yes, there are other sides of her that they could focus on. “Ayoko isipin ng mga tapo na puro pagpapaseksi lang alam ko,” she said. “I want to show them na may talent din naman ako.”

For now, however, she will simply do what she does best: celebrate her beauty.

“Iniisip ko, bakit ko ikahihiya? Bakit ko itatago? Beauty is a blessing.”

And so far, so good. Kim has certainly had lots of opportunities come her way from the time she entered show business just a few months ago. Most recently, she was even picked by popular gin brand Ginebra as calendar girl for 2017, vaulting to the level of Marian Rivera and Anne Curtis.

“Ay, hindi naman siguro,” she humbly said when that was pointed out to her. “Hindi ko kino-consider ko na ka-level ko na sila. Pero siyempre I’m very honored and proud na nasama ako sa hanay nila bilang calendar girl. It’s very flattering.”

Kim is readying herself for the spate of activities that automatically comes with Ginebra also naming her their Ganado Sa Buhay campaign ambassador.

“Marami kaming naka-schedule na activities, including public appearances sa provinces. I’m preparing myself mentally and physically na (for those),” she said.

These include hitting the gym thrice a week at the very least.(MNS)

Angelica Panganiban was all praises for her co-stars Dingdong Dantes and Paulo Avelino in the upcoming Star Cinema movie “The Unmarried Wife.”

The film served as the reunion project of Panganiban and Dantes, who was also her leading man in the 2012 movie “One More Try.” The romantic drama earned Dantes the Best Actor trophy at the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival.

From the last time that they worked together, Panganiban noticed how much Dantes has grown as an actor.

“Ang laki ng difference ngayon ni Dingdong. Simula nung una ko siyang nakatrabaho from ‘Segunda Mano’ to ‘One More Try’ and then dito, talagang napapanganga ako sa kanya ngayon kapag umaarte siya. Sobrang flawless nung performance na pinakita niya,” she said.

Asked what she thinks is the reason behind Dantes’ improvement,

Panganiban said: “Ang laki siguro ng naitulong na sobrang tahimik ‘yung buhay niya. Parang masayang masaya siya. Parang wala na siyang insecurities sa katawan niya.”

Dantes is married to actress Marian Rivera. They have a daughter, one year old Maria Letizia.

Meanwhile, Panganiban said she is also fortunate to have worked with Avelino for the first time in “The Unmarried Wife.”

The actress said they did not have a hard time breaking the ice. “Pareho kasi kami ng personality, tahimik lang kapag hindi kinakausap. Walang pressure,” she said.

Panganiban teased moviegoers that they can expect some steamy scenes in the film directed by Maryo J. De Los Reyes.

“The Unmarried Wife” is slated for a November 16 release.(MNS)

[No Comment | ]

Zanjoe Marudo (MNS photo)

MANILA, Nov 1 (Mabuhay) — Actor Zanjoe Marudo is enjoying his single life nine months after he confirmed his breakup with actress Bea Alonzo.

Marudo said he learned a lot of things after the split. “Parang ngayon ko lang na-realize na grabe, ‘yung time pala sa sarili mo minsan parang kulang pa. Ngayon ko lang nae-enjoy,” he said.

“Ang dami ko pa palang kailangang gawin para asikasuhin ang sarili ko. Doon ko naa-appreciate ang sarili,” he added.

Marudo also stressed the importance of “give and take” in a relationship.

“Huwag mong isipin ‘yung sarili mo lang. Kasi partners kayo, hindi ba? Kasi dalawa na kayong nagpapatakbo ng relasyon, hindi na lang ikaw. Dapat intindihin mo rin ang partner mo, kung anong ayaw at gusto niya. Hindi pwedeng ikaw lang ang masusunod.”

Now that he is happier and more mature, is Marudo ready for a new relationship?

“Dapat hindi minamadali ang mga bagay,” he said, adding, “Feeling ko hindi pa ako ready.”

Marudo recently starred in the Star Cinema movie “The Third Party” with Sam Milby and Angel Locsin. (MNS)

I will protect Andi with my life, says mom Jaclyn
[No Comment | ]

Jaclyn Jose (MNS photo)

MANILA, Nov 1 (Mabuhay) — Actress Jaclyn Jose strongly vowed support for her daughter, “The Greatest Love” star Andi Eigenmann, over growing criticism that she had wronged actor Albie Casiño when she accused him of being the father of her only child.

Jose, this year’s Cannes Best Actress said she will protect her daughter and granddaughter Ellie “with her life” from the rampant bashing.

“I will always love Andi and Ellie. And as I’ve said, I will protect them with my life. Hindi ko bibitawan iyang dalawa na iyan, kadugtong na ng buhay ko [sila] eh,” she said.

Jose, however, refused to comment on reports, quoting Andi’s half-sister, that Jake Ejercito is the biological father of Ellie. She explained that she is in no position to comment on such private matters.

“I can’t talk about that kasi nandoon lang po ako sa anak ko si Andi at apo ko si Ellie. Hanggang doon lang po ang puwede kong sabihin,” she said.

Last month, Max, Andi’s half-sister, revealed in an online podcast that a DNA test has proved that Ejercito is the real father of Ellie.

Andi has since released a statement asking for privacy, but did not confirm nor deny Max’s claims. Casiño, on the other hand, expressed relief over the news, saying that he is “happy that the truth is out.”

After the news of Max’s revelation broke, many have started demanding that Andi apologize to Casiño for dragging his name into her pregnancy controversy, hampering the early parts of his career as an actor.

According to Jose, Andi is doing well despite the criticisms. “We’re very good now. She’s good.

Everybody’s good in the family.

(MNS)

Robredo hopes Duterte will keep promise to stop cussing
[No Comment | ]
Vice President Leni Robredo

Vice President Leni Robredo

MANILA, Nov 1 (Mabuhay) — Vice President Leni Robredo is hoping President Rodrigo Duterte will stick to his promise to stop cussing.

Back home in Naga City for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, Robredo was asked to comment on Duterte’s recent pledge to God, who he said spoke to him while he was on the flight back to Davao City from a three-day official visit to Japan.

“Sana,” she replied in an interview on Monday. “Kasi lalo na sa international community na hindi sanay sa ganoon, kahit hindi malicious ‘yung gusto niyang sabihin, nagkakaroon ng ibang mensahe.”

The Vice President, who previously joined calls asking the President to be more careful with his pronouncements, reiterated that national officials like them must consider that they serve a wider audience.

In this setting, she noted that their statements may be misunderstood, and she said she reminds herself to be more careful as well.

Robredo also noted anew that she shares a good working relationship with Duterte, who she said has been supportive in her work as Housing czar.

She also called on people not to pit them against each other.

“Maayos naman si Presidente. Maayos ‘yung treatment sa akin. In fact, ‘yung ilang requests ko sa kaniya, swiftly inaksyunan… ‘Pag nagre-report ako sa Cabinet, sang-ayon siya at very supportive,” she said.

(MNS)
