The Philippine government is confident that the five-member United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) Arbitral Tribunal will vote that it has jurisdiction to hear the territorial and maritime issue between the Philippines and the People’s Republic of China (PROC) when it convenes hopefully by July this year, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario said.

Secretary del Rosario issued the statement during the press briefing in Malacanang on Friday after the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) has appointed the remaining three members of the five-member Arbitral Tribunal that will hear the Statement of Claim filed by the Philippines against China on the West Philippine Sea.
