MANILA – Leaders of Lakas-Kampi-CMD on Monday held top level negotiations with officials of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) in a bid to forge a grand alliance between the No. 1 and No. 2 political parties.

A source said Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita and political affairs adviser Gabriel Claudio met with NPC bigwigs Frisco San Juan and Benjamin Dy Jr. in a last-ditch attempt to have Lakas-Kampi-CMD standard-bearer Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro team up with NPC vice presidential candidate Senator Loren Legarda for the 2010 polls.
